Where does Britain’s most famous family go for a post-lockdown break? Italy, naturally. The Beckhams have spent the past week at Borgo Egnazia, one of Puglia’s most sprawling, no-filter-needed resorts to which they also repaired last summer. Sedate cycling through 2,000-year-old olive groves, sampling Michelin-starred risotto, and relaxing spa treatments in the candlelit Vair spa are all on the agenda – along with couple selfies against a backdrop of local honey-hued tufo stone.
Famous faces are frequent at Borgo. The five-star hotel and villa complex hosted Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake’s wedding in 2012, and has played host to Michael Bublé and Richard Branson and their families. Guests love the private villas, of which there are 24, and which come with private chefs and private pools, as well as the family atmosphere.
It’s safe to say the Beckhams have embraced the extra-curricular options on offer. Brooklyn and his new fiancé Nicola Peltz led the kids on a seafront bike ride, while David took Romeo out on the golf course (no naff golfing shoes for the teenager, however: he preferred the limited-edition Dior x Nike Air Jordan 1 sneakers, for which the world and his wife have programmed Google alerts for availability).
